Optional Thickener
- 15 ml cornstarch mixed with water (slurry), mixed with 30ml cold water(optional)

Garnish
- 2 fresh spring onions, sliced, thinly sliced(optional)
Garnish just before serving
- 15 g sesame seeds(optional)
Garnish just before serving
Method
- 1Optional step
If desired, heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add a little oil and quickly brown the chicken pieces on all sides (this step is optional but recommended for enhanced flavour). Drain any excess liquid.
~8 minsTip: Browning develops deeper flavour but is not essential for the slow cooker method
- 2
Place the chicken pieces into your slow cooker. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar until well combined.
~5 mins - 3
Pour the honey garlic glaze over the chicken, stirring gently to coat all pieces evenly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
~3 mins - 4
Cover and cook on Low for 7 hours, or on High for 4 hours, until the chicken is fall-off-the-bone tender.
~7 hrsTip: Cooking time depends on your slow cooker and the size of chicken pieces. Check at the earlier time to avoid overcooking
- 5Optional step
If you prefer a thicker glaze, mix the cornstarch slurry in a small bowl and stir it into the slow cooker. Cook uncovered on High for a further 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens.
~25 minsTip: Skip this step if you prefer a thinner sauce
- 6
Garnish with sliced spring onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or with fresh vegetables.
~5 minsTip: Add garnishes just before serving to keep them fresh and vibrant
