Slow Cooker Stuffing

Use your slow cooker to make tasty and moist stuffing in bulk!

Ingredients:

  • 325 g (13oz) mushrooms, sliced
  • 250 g (10oz) butter or margarine
  • 425 g (17oz) bread cubes
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 325 g (13oz) celery chopped
  • 325 g (13oz) onion chopped
  • 4 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 litre (32fl oz) chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon of poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon of dried marjoram
  • ½ teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of dried sage

Steps:

  1. Put the butter in a frying pan and melt over medium heat. Add the celery, onion, parsley and mushroom, cook and stir frequently.
  2. Spoon cooked the vegetables in a large mixing bowl over the bread cubes.
  3. Season with thyme, salt, poultry seasoning, sage and pepper.
  4. Put enough stock to moisten, add the eggs and mix.
  5. Place the mixture in a slow cooker and cover.
  6. Cook for 45 minutes over high heat then reduce the heat to low then continue cooking for 4 to 8 hours.
