Super Slow Cooker Sauerbraten

Baked red potatoes are just the thing to go with sauerbraten, and
cabbage too, if you like it. You can serve sauerbraten with beer, or a
nice bold Shiraz if wine is your thing.
Ingredients:
- 1 rump roast about 1.8-2kg (4 lb)
- Salt and pepper
- 2 onions, sliced
- 1 can (300g, 10oz) condensed beef broth, undiluted
- ⅓ cup liquid brown sugar or 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- ⅓ cup cider vinegar
- 6 gingersnaps, crumbled
Steps:
- Sprinkle the roast with pepper and salt on all sides.
- Place in slow cooker, and add onion, broth, brown sugar, and
vinegar
- Cook 5 to 6 hours on High setting, turning occasionally.
- Remove roast and keep warm.
- Skim fat from pan juices. Stir in gingersnaps and stir until the
sauce thickens and bubbles.
- Slice roast and spoon sauce over the slices.
