This is one of the easiest roast beef recipes going, and it’s perfect
for making French Dip sandwiches: simply ladle up some of the juices
after the roast is done, and you have delicious roast beef au jus. Chips
make the perfect accompaniment, because they’re great for dipping into
the beef juices too. A nice Australian Shiraz goes well with this meal.
Ingredients:
- 2 kg (4 lbs) rump roast
- 1 300g (10.5oz) can beef broth
- 1 300g (10.5oz) can condensed French onion soup
- 1 half-litre can or bottle beer
- 6 French rolls
Steps:
- Trim off the excess fat from the roast and place in slow cooker.
Add broth, French onion soup, and beer. Cook on Low setting for 7
hours.
- When roast is done, slice diagonally and serve on the rolls. Use
the juices from the slow cooker for dipping the sandwiches as you
eat.
