Rediculous to use COOKED rice! The BASIC recipe should be for uncooked pudding rice - anything else would be a non-standard variant.

And is the "Scalded" milk added while (just under) boiling or is it cooled ?

hi denise, i did a silverside joint last week in my slow cooker for the first time, i just put the meat in on it's own and it was absolutely melt in your mouth and used the juices to make my gravy, i won't be cooking it in the oven again. i put mine on low at 9am when i left for work and took it out at 3pm when i came home and it sliced up lovely.

Hi Denise, depends on the recipe but meat in slow cookers do not generally require oil. You will find that the oil comes out as part of the natural juices.
