I agree - quite stupid to use canned lentil soup to make lentil soup - why not save on electricity and just open the can? Lentils are so simple to use and cheap to buy too (no need to soak) - maybe we should just read " 2 handfuls of lentils" instead of the can of soup!

I've been making my own Lentil soup since i was 14 and i have never once added a tin of soup to it. This is ridiculous!!!!

very dissapointed i can do better than that with real lentils celery carrot chicen stock cubed gammon black pepper bay leaf tastes amasing cook on high 1and half hours then slow for 1 bingo

This has to be a joke. I wanted a lentil soup to be made from scratch adding real lentals not ready made cans of lentil soup - very disappointed - such a let down you CANNOT be the no.1 slow cooker recipe website!!!

I'm with Hannah here - I wasn't expecting a soup recipe that tells you to add...soup. I was hoping for something cooked from scratch, I like to control the salt content in meals which is why I don't just open a tin.

No need to make it in the slow cooker if you're adding lentil soup. If you want to truly make your own, use an equivalent weight of split red lentils, rinse well before adding to the pot and add 4 times the volume of water (e.g 100g lentils, 400ml water).
Thought the whole idea of recipes was to make your own.
Oh - and a great recipe for chicken soup...
Just take two cans of chicken soup....
