If you’re having a fondue night, don’t let chocolate hog the spotlight
when it’s time for dessert. This delicious butterscotch fondue is very
easy to make, and you can spike it with rum for an extra kick! For
dipping, have on hand sponge cake, shortbread, strawberries, apple
slices, and other bite-sized goodies that would go well with
butterscotch.
Ingredients:
- 2 x 400g (14 oz) cans sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 cup butter, melted
- 2/3 cup (6fl oz) light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup rum or milk
Steps:
- Stir together condensed milk, brown sugar, butter, corn syrup,
and vanilla extract.
- Cover and cook on Low setting for 3 hours.
- Use a whisk to blend in rum or milk until smooth.
- Keep warm using your slow cooker’s “Warm” setting if it has one,
or turn on Low setting intermittently, stirring occasionally.
