Please give recipes which use all raw ingredients: like the previous poster, I don't want to use tinned soup and veg: Can't see the point of using a slow cooker just to heat commercial products!

As a new owner of a slow cooker, to make a lentil soup why would you have to put in two tins of soup! Surely that defeat the object? I notice that a lot of the recipes include tins of veg., etc., can you not just put fresh products in without tins of things with additives in? Please advise.
