Beefy Noodles Soup Recipe

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Slow Cooker Size 5L+
Serves: 4-6
Cooking time: Low 4-5 hours
  • 700g (1½ lb) lean beef mince
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2  x  425g (15oz) cans mixed vegetables, drained
  • 2 x  425g  (15oz) cans Italian diced tomatoes
  • 2 x 400g  (14oz) cans beef liquid stock or homemade beef stock
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup medium egg noodles

Steps:

  1. In frying pan, brown and cook beef until no longer pink and transfer to slow cooker.
  2. Add onion, mixed vegetables, diced tomatoes, beef stock and oregano.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours.
  4. In saucepan, cook noodles according to package direction.
  5. Add noodles to slow cooker and cook 30 minutes.
  6. Serves 4 to 6.

Please give recipes which use all raw ingredients: like the previous poster, I don't want to use tinned soup and veg: Can't see the point of using a slow cooker just to heat commercial products!

As a new owner of a slow cooker, to make a lentil soup why would you have to put in two tins of soup! Surely that defeat the object? I notice that a lot of the recipes include tins of veg., etc., can you not just put fresh products in without tins of things with additives in? Please advise.
